So, we just got set the three assignments that are meant to keep us busy over the summer - one for Analysis, one for Design and one for Narrative.
ANALYSIS:
Choose an action/movement, not a subtle one, something where there's a lot of motion. Record that motion - sketchpad, photo, video, whichever way is best - and get a number of different subjects to do it, so you can see how it varies between each one.
Think about the phases - the Preparation (getting ready), the Execution (doing), the Resulting (immediate aftermath of doing), and the Recovery (getting back on balance).
So, we need to make sketches, photos, videos, and notes, basically just showing that we understand all of that.
DESIGN:
Design a series of characters. They've got to look like they fit together as a group and exist in the same universe. Think about characterisation - not just in immediate appearance, but in posing, motions/gestures, behaviour. Doesn't matter what form of animation - CG, 2D, stopframe (though I only really have the tools to do 2D).
Take inspiration from something around you/something you're familiar with, and build it out from there.
This is the main thing we'll have to stand up and talk about when we get back.
NARRATIVE:
Looking at process of taking an informal anecdote, and turning that into something presentable to an audience. Write about a memory that has a lot of meaning to you.
Write the scenario, write the moments, write the locations and conditions. Should be a couple hundred words each, tops. Like a sketchpad for writing, just a whole bunch of different written bits. Think about creation of humour, drama, etc.
